Allen’s Flower Market is a family owner business. His dad bought the corner of Atlantic & Willow in 1978 and built the store. Sold it in ‘82 and brought it back in ’95. The name “Allen” came about as they wanted to be listed in the beginning of the listings in the Yellow Pages. (ie: “A”).
Harry graduated from CSULB and started working in the business in 1998. He and his wife Nancy have 5 kids & 4 grandchildren.
The “Old School” approach of having the buckets of flowers remains, as people still like to come to the store to smell and touch the flowers they are buying. Though, investing in the internet business has proven to increase business. Google & Yelp are the main sources of this business.
They sell to 70 percent locally, for all types of events and occasions. Having a location near a major hospital is good too. They customize arrangements by using clients photos or pictures. They buy bulk from growers out of state and out of the country. Allen's Flower Market imports their special roses from Columbia & Ecuador. They carry many types of Orchids and living plants as well.
Harry & his team go to the airport twice a week to pick up flowers, and to downtown L.A. weekly or more.
After his classification talk Harry gave away “5” unique arrangements to members and described each one.
Call Harry for a quote on your next event. Every occasion is better with fresh flowers!

Error found on the budget page. There is a total for the management fee for the year that does not correlate to the actual amount paid. There were a few other areas on the budget that needed fixing as well so that the reports are more accurate. New reports have been generated for next month.
We are over budget on our credit card processing fees (partially due to more members taking advantage of that option than expected but also due to higher rates than most have for their own businesses). M. Thompson is going to reach out to Clarence Thomas a previous merchant services member and see if he's interested in rejoining and taking over our account.
