On Monday, January 15th the Executives Association of Long Beach met for their weekly networking luncheon. This week's speaker was Harry Goldman, owner of Allen's Flower Market. Just in time for Valentine's Day Harry talked about the myriad of choices available for your loved one and even raffled off the 5 unique arrangements and gifts he brought to the members.

Harry Goldman is a Long Beach local. He began attending college at Cal State Northridge but quickly transferred to Long Beach State when his father was opening Allen's Flower Market on the corner of Willow and Atlantic and needed his help. Years later Harry took over the business and has since opened seven different flower shops in Southern California. He is married to Nancy and together they have five kids and four grandkids. His hobbies include surfing an yoga.

Allen's Flower Market is a "bucket shop" as Harry endearingly refers to it. When you walk in there is a grand fresh flower display where you can touch and feel all the flowers and create your own bouquet. The refrigerators have ready made arrangements and a wide selection of roses of all kinds. My personal favorite are the rainbow colored circus roses that many florists do not carry. Harry's favorite are the long stem deep-red red roses that are a huge hit on Valentine's Day. While flowers are the main item sold at Allen's Flower Market, they are also a full gift shop. They have a wall of stuffed animals, helium balloons, candies, cards, potted plants and more. A new floral gift you might consider is a preserved rose. They look just like a fresh rose but require no water and can last up to two years.

Harry imports fresh cut flowers weekly from all over the world and locally from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Allen's Flower Market is a flower wholesaler as well.

Valentine's is on February 14th and it's their biggest week of the year! They are so busy that Harry keeps the shop open for 24 hours on Valentine's Day and has a taco truck there giving out free tacos for customers that make a purchase. Be sure to place your order now. Last year they literally ran out of flowers and had to turn phone orders away.

An exiting new development for Allen's Flower Market is that they will now be a same day florist for Amazon in 2018.

As a special bonus of being a member of the Execs, Harry will give you a 10% discount for all unperson or phone orders. Be sure to mention you are an Exec!
