Welcome to the Executives Association of Long Beach Member Directory

The long standing slogan of the association has been "Business is our Business". The Executives Association of Long Beach (EALB) was founded in 1922. It is an association of Long Beach business executives, each of whom represents his or her respective firm at the management level.

The Long Beach Executives Association is a member of the International Executives Association, a worldwide group of similar associations. It is not a service club, a social group or fraternal order. The EALB is a networking group for business owners and high level executives. It has but one unique objective: to capture the natural bond of common interest which exists between business executives and by regular weekly meetings, develop and enjoy a brand of fellowship conducive to the creation of additional and profitable business for all its members.

It does not require its members to patronize each other, but it does provide opportunities for each member to promote their products or services and it can open doors that otherwise are closed to desired business. Members of the EALB often consider the association as an extension of their own business or profession.

On Monday, June 4th the Executives Association of Long Beach met for their weekly networking luncheon to hear a classification talk from Michael Shafer of Edward Jones.

Since 2013, Michael has worked as a financial advisor for Edward Jones, specializing in retirement planning. As a retirement planner, Michael works with his clients to reach their retirement goals through advising and developing specific investment strategies.

Michael Shafer was born and raised in Long Beach with his mom and brother. He attended college at CSULB. Michael has been married for 13 years with three kids and currently lives in Seal Beach. Before becoming a financial advisor, he was handled investments for 10 years and was an elementary school teacher for eight years where he learned the teaching skills that he uses as a financial advisor. Michael is a new member to the Execs.

Michael’s talk provided insight into his life as an Edward Jones financial advisor. Even though he is an Edward Jones financial advisor, he works independently and is able to be selective about his clients. This selectivity allows him to choose clients that meet his criteria, but that criterion is not about how much his client’s make or how much they need to invest, but rather it is about helping clients find the right plan that will help them reach their retirement goal. He consistently lets clients know that he is a private trader and is not attached to specific companies, which allows him the freedom to find the appropriate investment. Michael is not afraid to talk about fees because he does not charge a fee for advice and his commission is low for IRA’s and 401K’s.

Michael wants his clients not to think about their money and instead let him worry about their investments. He wants them to live their lives while he helps them reach their retirement goals.

We will be at The Grand on June 11th to hear Elizabeth Riley of T.G.I.S speak.
