Welcome to the Executives Association of Long Beach Member Directory

The long standing slogan of the association has been "Business is our Business". The Executives Association of Long Beach (EALB) was founded in 1922. It is an association of Long Beach business executives, each of whom represents his or her respective firm at the management level.

The Long Beach Executives Association is a member of the International Executives Association, a worldwide group of similar associations. It is not a service club, a social group or fraternal order. The EALB is a networking group for business owners and high level executives. It has but one unique objective: to capture the natural bond of common interest which exists between business executives and by regular weekly meetings, develop and enjoy a brand of fellowship conducive to the creation of additional and profitable business for all its members.

It does not require its members to patronize each other, but it does provide opportunities for each member to promote their products or services and it can open doors that otherwise are closed to desired business. Members of the EALB often consider the association as an extension of their own business or profession.

On Monday, July 23th the Executives Association of Long Beach met for their weekly networking luncheon to hear from Dave Sakamoto of F&M Bank.

Farmers & Merchants Bank was originally started in 1907 in Long Beach by the Walker Family and their original downtown branch is still operational today. Currently F&M Bank has 25 locations, including their newest branch in Rossmoor and locations in Santa Barbara. They have over 700 employees including a new call center located in Seal Beach. Additionally their real estate lending portfolio holds 3 billion dollars in outstanding loans.

Dave Sakamoto grew up in Culver City and now lives in Cerritos with his wife and child. Dave continues to give back to Southern California and is a part of several affiliations within the Long Beach community.  Dave has been in banking for over 30 years and currently is the branch manager at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Belmont Shore and has been an Execs member since 2014.

Dave’s talk focused on the changes within F&M Bank which included the importance of customer retention for checking accounts, adding and updating their online banking, banking fees, and traffic through the branches, as F&M still has their traditionalist customers that go to their branches regularly. They recently improved their online banking system to entice new clients and continue to compete with their competitors. One friendly feature is that if you also have an IRA or CD with the bank then they will waive the service charges incurred. Also in an effort to go green, F&M brought back paper statement fees as an incentive for clients to choose instead to receive e-statements. Dave also mentioned that non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees have gone up to $30 dollars; however, as a courtesy F&M will waive any ATM fees.

For over 100 years Farmers & Merchants Bank has serviced the community and provided hometown banking service. As they continue to grow, F&M continues to provide their customers the highest quality service and cater to their clients’ needs.
