On Monday, May 4th the Executives Association of Long Beach met for their weekly meeting to hear from Julia LaPlount of Senior Helpers.
Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 after several firsthand experiences in caring for family members. There were needs that were not being filled properly by other companies. One important fact was most seniors prefer to age in their own homes rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.
Julia LaPlount has lived in Long Beach for 56 years and is committed to provided exceptional services to her clients based on her experiences being employed for 38 years at Rancho Research Institue, Inc., a non-profit research and education center located at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey. She was CEO for the last 20 years.
Julia provided oversight for the Adult Daycare Center for Alzheimer's and Dementia for 18 years and assisted in the development of the Don Knabe Wellness Center for the aging and disabled at Rancho.
The commitment to provide the best care to clients and to provide support to the families, comes from her own person experiences. She is familiar with working with public agencies and wants to make an important contribution to the well-being of their clients and families.
